Hello!

This is Danko’s site. Danko is a wonderful 11 years old boy, who loves to learn, loves to play with friends, loves the sea and all other things that children like to do.
But things are not so easy for Danko. He was born with Cerebral Palsy (CP). His legs are affected and every step he makes now is a result from his strong will, from his hard work and mostly because he wants to be like every other 11 year old boy.
A big progress was achieved after an expensive surgery in a German hospital in February 2006. Until the puberty Danko needs splints - medical devices for the immobilization of the limbs. Danko is a strong boy, he faces difficulties with a smile, and thanks to his will and the splints now he can walk by himself.
The splints have to be replaced periodically until the boy grows. Each change costs 7,000 Euro. The doctors suppose that 6 or 7 replacements will be made in the next 6 years and yet then they expect the boy’s condition will improve.
Till now Danko’s parents managed to pay for the surgery by themselves, but now they and Danko need us and our help!
For the successful completion of the therapy the necessary amount is 42,000 Euro. The boy has to wear the splints constantly. If any interruption the efforts and the hope, all the results achieved so far will go vainly. This should not happen.

Every time I read such a request, I realise that we – human beings are blessed. We have a special gift – the ability to help each other!
Helping, doing good to somebody are the things that make us happy from the fact that we are human beings. These virtues make us unique and different from the other living creatures on the earth. Especially the willingness – it is the leading power, it makes us move onward. It is not important if we make a small or a big step, the important thing is that we have the willingness and we are going on.
Sometimes a little gesture is enough to change somebody’s life, to make it better.
One smile, one friendly outstretched hand – it seems that in our busy days we do not pay attention to them.
So, please – stop for a moment!
Lend a helping hand, present a smile, support a step ahead!
Let’s help Danko to keep walking! Let’s hope that he will go a long and successful way and that he will wake up every morning with a smile expecting the new day.
